Track 2000 Grant Legacy Fund Supports Film Focus Wales

Track 2000 Grant Legacy Fund is very pleased to announce grant funding to Film Focus Wales of £8,448 towards project/operation costs.

The core aim of ‘Film Focus Wales’ is to make a practical and very real contribution to helping to steer older people in our communities away from the increasingly destructive path of loneliness, isolation and social disengagement.

Film Focus Wales is set up as a constituted voluntary community group and we will use the excitement and creativity of film making, radio and visual arts to provide opportunities for older people to be actively engaged with our education and learning projects in order to increase their confidence, heighten self esteem, have some fun and take real pride in their achievements.

The group is operated on a not-for-profit basis by and for the benefit of our volunteers. No one gets paid a weekly wage to run it but among our members we do have people with substantial experience from Public Service, Business and the Third Sector.

We have worked hard since becoming ‘constituted’ to make contacts with and consult with a wide variety of individuals and organisations that are involved in the well-being of older people (including Age Cymru, Age Connects, British Red Cross, Gwanwyn Festival, Wales Cooperative Centre, Bro Radio, Community Connect Media, Woody’s Lodge, Porthcawl Museum and Arts Society, Fritz Streets Films and The Wales Millennium Centre)

Our core objective is ‘Improving Lives Through Creativity’. We know these people have many things to say. We will give our older people the chance to actively reconnect within communities by using the very real power of a strong ‘Visual Voice’.
